Richard Walker (Chair of Governors)

My background is in Financial Services and Management Consulting where I have worked for over 15 years since graduating from University with a degree in Economics.  I am currently the Operations Manager at a UK based insurance company that has its headquarters in Harrogate.  I also have two children who attend Starbeck.  I was co-opted onto the Board of Governors as my profession means I have experience of corporate governance, financial management and leadership which were all areas identified as gaps in the Ofsted review, and I am currently the Chair of Governors since September 2017.  This means my role is to ensure that the Board functions effectively and that the process and procedures of governance are followed to maintain and improve the overall performance of the school.  It also means I am responsible for the ongoing performance management of the Headteacher.  In addition I am part of the Resources Committee and I am the Link Governor for Leadership and Management.

Tim Redshaw (Vice Chair of Governors)

I've been member of the Governing Body for over 8 years, and enjoy the work a lot, yes it has its challenges but these are by far rewarded by watching the children and school developing and improving.

I was a pupil at Starbeck School leaving in 1978 when Mr Groom was Head. My Son Christopher was a pupil here to in more recent years with him leaving in 2013. Starbeck School play a huge part in supporting him when he was diagnosed with Aspergers, and will be eternally grateful for the help and support we received from Starbeck School, and it was this support that was to lead to a greater interest in SEN needs and interests within the school.

I went on to attend St Aidan's and its joint Sixth year. I have a background in Information Technology industry. I still live in Starbeck, and while my Son now attends Forest Moor l continue to want to be a part of Starbeck School and help in whatever way l can. I volunteer to help children have a chance to practice their reading skills in school.

I am a Local Authority governor. I am Vice Chair of Governing Body and Chair of the Resources Committee focusing on finance, health and safety and school policies. I am also the Link Governor to SEND.

Lee Dart

I work full time as a physiotherapist at Henshaws College in Harrogate and I manage the physical therapy department. To the governing body I bring my experience and training in recent years around; performance management, raising standards in an education settled and close working with Ofsted. The school means a great deal to me and my family. I am proud to support it and contribute to its success and the provision of education for the children.

I am a parent Governor. I am on the Standard’s Committee and link governor for Teaching, Learning and Assessment meeting with the Headteacher and key subject leaders.

My passion is music and drama. I lead clubs in school, including the choir and the orchestra and two drama clubs. I am an active member of the local community, participating in and organising events. I also work as a volunteer with Harrogate Youth Theatre.

I am a Co-opted Governor on the Standards Committee, focusing on teaching, learning and outcomes and the implementation of the School Development Plan.
